At Medi2cert, our mission is to make medical certification simple, secure, and accessible for everyone. We are an NHS-accredited supplier, committed to removing delays by providing a trusted service that delivers fast, compliant medical reports. By combining expert GMC-registered doctors with proprietary technology, we aim to support applicants, ease the burden on healthcare professionals, and set the standard for medical reporting in the UK.
Our Story
Since November 2022, anyone applying for a firearms licence has been required to provide a completed medical report to the police firearms licensing department. As of March 2025, there were 496,904 Firearm and/or Shotgun Licence holders in England and Wales. Licences must be renewed every five years, with a new medical certificate required each time.
But as many NHS GPs may decline to complete firearm medicals, applicants were left struggling to get the reports they needed. While working at Medi2Data, our team saw this challenge first-hand. Using our proprietary medical reporting software, we realised we could create a faster, more efficient solution. One that streamlined the process for both applicants and GPs.
That insight led to the launch of Medi2cert in early 2024. Today, we provide a secure, fully compliant, and reliable service designed to simplify the obtaining of medial reports for customers, and reduce the burden on GP Surgeries.
